Dr. W. Steven Barnett

W. Steven Barnett is Board of Governors Professor of Education and Founding Co-Director of the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) at Rutgers University, United States. He is a member of the National Academy of Education and a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association. His work focuses on public policies to support early learning and child development, including studies of the economics of early education. Dr. Jana Fleming joined the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation as Director of the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Development in February 2015. She has extensive experience evaluating the quality of early education programs and services, training teachers on best practices in early education, and advising policymakers on strategies to improve educational and social services for young children and their families. From 2009 to 2015, Dr. Fleming was director of the Herr Research Center for Children and Social Policy at Erikson Institute.
